Srinivasan Ramabhadran, Managing Director Asia Pacific of dss+, explained that while AI can improve operational efficiency—tasks that would otherwise take considerable time and resources if done manually—it can also threaten companies if its use is not accompanied by robust cybersecurity measures.
"Like a double-edged sword, technology can bring benefits but also risks. We can leverage it for efficiency, but on the flip side, it can be highly dangerous," said Srinivasan in Jakarta on Thursday (December 12, 2024).
"This is why the use of technology must be supported by strict and layered cybersecurity," he added.
According to Srinivasan, several dss+ clients in Indonesia have already implemented AI to enhance corporate performance. These technologies are used to detect pipeline leaks or streamline financial records. dss+ serves a wide range of clients, including both private and government-owned companies operating in various sectors.
"Imagine doing these tasks manually—it would take a long time," he said.
Srinivasan emphasized the importance of prioritizing workplace safety, noting that losses and diminished trust due to workplace negligence cannot be underestimated.
"This is where we come in—to optimize workplace safety while considering corporate financial goals and government regulations," he concluded.
Duncan Munro, Global Director Operational Excellence of dss+, added that when developing workplace safety protocols for a company, he always involves the workers themselves, as they have the most in-depth knowledge of company operations.
"In addition, we combine regulations and technology to create workplace safety protocols tailored to each company," he said in closing.
