Improve safety performance through leadership upskilling

Challenge

After reviewing the status quo of the company, dss⁺ identified the need for a reinforced managerial skillset that was comfortable with effectively communicating and demonstrating safety to all employees, regardless of their position in the company. Ensuring that safety governance, including the safety management system, improved and elevated Knorr-Bremse France's safety performance was the key challenge for the intervention.

Solution

After understanding the needs through a full assessment that comprised a Safety Data Analysis (SDA), a Safety Perception Survey (SPS) and an on-site assessment, dss⁺ conducted one workshop with the local Executive committee members to share the full diagnostic and set up a safety governance structure to proactively manage Knorr-Bremse France's safety journey. Thanks to the co-designed safety training, managers embedded the key safety leadership skills and key management rituals. During management coaching, managers were empowered to speak up about safety during planned and unplanned safety routines.
