Context

This leading GCC integrated oil & gas company operates across upstream, downstream, gas processing, chemicals, distribution, and logistics. They recently embarked on a transformation and reinforced the role of corporate, standardising, streamlining, and strengthening practices across corporate functions including HSE.

Challenge

Following a significant process safety event, the company sought to re-define the role of corporate in providing process safety risk assurance across the Oil & Gas value chain and establish a new fit-for-purpose world class operating model in line with leading practices.

Solution

dss+ conducted a Corporate Process Safety Assessment across the energy value chain to identify improvement opportunities. This included a review of the governance structures, performance management, leadership, capabilities and interfaces with other stakeholders and systems, critical for process safety excellence. dss+ engaged senior business leaders to understand their differentiated roles how leadership drive company culture by the way of example. Focus groups and deep dive surveys with operating companies were essential in gaining feedback on improvement opportunities.

dss+ benchmarked Corporate Process Safety practices against industry peers and developed a sustainable multi-year Process Safety Transformation roadmap to achieve process safety and risk management excellence.
